As Donald Trump wielded Twitter as a political tool to rally many rural Americans to his cause in 2016, most Twitter users never paid attention or spoke about the importance of the rural vote. We pulled every tweet that talked about rural voters before and after the 2016 election, and found that while there was little focus on the rural vote before Donald Trump, there’s a lot of attention being paid ever since he won.
