With Congress nearing a deal on the federal budget, and with President Trump continuing to express his concern with funding for a border wall, consumer research shows just what kind of impact the shutdown has on American consumers and retailers.
Most American households were not directly impacted by partial federal government shutdown.
But still, most people delayed or reduced spending on consumer goods in response to the shutdown.
Spending was reduced most on essential consumer products, but other products were also impacted.
Delayed or reduced consumer spending was adding up.
NP conducted this research with a sample of 1,501 Americans. We maintain a representative panel of the U.S. population. Members of the panel can be profiled on over 3,000 variables, including consumer data and partisan score.
