Alexandra Schmitt is a Senior Vice President with NP Agency.
Alex most recently served in the Biden Administration as a counselor to the Secretary of Homeland Security, where she advised senior leadership on a range of policy issues, particularly human and civil rights, privacy, and crimes of abuse and exploitation; coordinated congressional oversight for the department; and managed special projects important to the Secretary. She previously worked as a senior policy analyst at the Center for American Progress, where she led the National Security and International Policy team’s work on human rights, democracy, and development issues and coordinated an international network of progressive analysts, politicians, and pollsters. Earlier, she worked as a policy fellow for a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and at Human Rights Watch and the United Nations Foundation.
Alex earned a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Grinnell College in Iowa. A native of Chicago, she lives in DC with her husband, son, and dog.
